The Archer Tongue Collection,
cultural studies on alcohol in Magdeburg – Germany.
Chanses for young scientists
Are you looking for a chance to do research work at a German university? Are you interested in working on alcohol, preferably in the fields of humanities or medicine? Turn to us!
A group of up-and-coming scientists is attached to the Archer Tongue Collection. This group had its own scholarship programme until 2006 and dealt with the German Temperance Movement. In 2007 a new group is emerging from the former group. Its focus will be the topic of European Alcohol cultures. Presumably, the new group will also have its own scholarship programme soon.
You have graduated from a university in the field of humanities, social sciences or medicine. Perhaps, you are a sociologist, a psychologist, a social worker or a physician. Ideally, you are younger than 30 years – but we decide on each candidate in particular: Elder candidates are given chances as well.
Professional experience is an advantage. You should strive for an academic career. During your research stay in Magdeburg we will be supervising your scientific project. You will be participating in our exchange of information with scientists of different backgrounds. Furthermore, you can make full use of the infrastructure of our institution.
These are some of our suggested subjects:
- Biographical processes and addiction theories
- History of alcohol
- European alcohol cultures
- Drinking style and regional background
- Courses of civilization and alcohol
